The Gospel

Without the message of the Gospel (meaning Good News) there is no Christianity, no eternal hope and nothing beyond the present life in flesh but eternal separation from God. The message of the Gospel is that there is hope; there is eternal life beyond the present one. The basic message is very simple.

“I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, ”
The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

All have sinned (through their connection to Adam and Eve, as well as through the activities of their lives) because they have fallen short of God’s requirement to be holy. All are thus condemned and will die eternally separated from God. The Good News is that God provides a remedy.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” Acts 16:13

“if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”  Romans 10:9

Everyone dies physically, but those who truly believe in Jesus Christ are promised a physical resurrection unto eternal life (in Heaven).

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”  John 11:25-26

Jesus is also very clear that there is no other way to be saved. Not a popular idea but the truth of Scripture.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Lastly, looking to be saved means acknowledging that one needs saving – saving from having lived in a manner outside of God requirements.

“You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.” Leviticus 19:2

Confessing (that is, stating true belief in) Jesus implies seeking forgiveness as well as committing to God’s way going forward. In a nutshell – repentance and desire to change.

The message of the Gospel, the best news possible, is that for those who truly believe and commit to Jesus, their transgressions will be forgiven (past, present and future) and they will spend eternity with Him.

God calls on all people to repent of their past disobedience, believe in and follow Jesus, and thereby have eternity with Him.
